On September 27 the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky opened the exhibition entitled "Coins are an echo of history." Currently, the museum funds contain numerous numismatic materials, coins dating back to ancient and medieval periods.
The coins presented at the exhibition, discovered at historical sites of our region, are evidence of monetary relations of their time. The collection of the Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan was replenished with coins as a result of excavations, an archaeological expedition organized by the founder and first director of the museum, Igor Vitalievich Savitsky. In recent years, in order to continue the work of Savitsky, the museum's collection is replenished with coins of various states and peoples.
Made of various materials such as copper, bronze, silver, iron, these coins contain the image of a person, a view of nature, the animal world and various figures, thereby representing objects of art.
The main goal of today's exhibition is to show that the coins from the museum's collection which are regarded as a work of art and also carry an echo of history.
