On January 30, 2020 at 10:00 in the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky was held a scientific seminar entitled "S. Tolstov: studying of the history of the South Aral region".
The main goal of the scientific seminar is to evaluate the work and contribution made by the famous scientist S.P. Tolstov and note his place in today's discoveries in the field of archeology and ethnography, learn from historians at what level the works of the scientist are studied in educational centers with the help of the museums exhibits, get acquainted with the archaeological and ethnographic heritage, investigated by scientist S.P. Tolstov.
At the scientific seminar, participants had the opportunity to listen to reports on scientific works and scientific studies conducted in the historical monuments of the South Aral Sea region by Sergey Pavlovich Tolstov and the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition.
The listeners were offered the reports prepared by local archaeologists who nowadays continue the scientific activities of the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition and historians studying the works of S.P. Tolstov. The Hero of Uzbekistan, candidate of historical sciences, head of the archeology department of the Research Institute of Humanities at the Karakalpak branch of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, a mentor, archaeologist Gairatdin Khojaniyazov also made a report.
During the scientific seminar, the participants got acquainted with the scientific works stored in the library of the State Art Museum of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky written by archaeologist S.P. Tolstov and members of the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition.
